Introduction from the Chair of Governors
My name is Tim Rideout and I was elected to the position of Chair of Governors in December 2012. I am immensely proud to serve Reepham Church of England Primary School in this way. I am a qualified accountant, I have a background in senior management in the NHS and I have held a number of Director of Finance and Chief Executive positions. I now work as the Director of Commissioning Operations (Cumbria and the North East) for NHS England.
Reepham is an excellent primary school, where every child is encouraged to fulfil their potential in a safe and supportive environment. The School has a long-standing tradition of academic excellence and provides support to other local schools in addition to ensuring that our own children receive a high quality education, underpinned by the values associated with a Church of England school. At our most recent Ofsted inspection (in 2011), the School was rated as ‘Outstanding’.
The core purpose of the Governing Body is, in the role of ‘critical friend’ to the School, and to support and hold the Headteacher to account in determining strategy and direction of the School. The Governing Body also ensures the proper implementation of legal requirements, monitoring of achievement and standards, and the monitoring and evaluation of the School’s Improvement Plan. The Governing Body sets aims and objectives and agrees, monitors and reviews policies, targets and priorities. The Headteacher, with his staff, is responsible for planning, teaching and the day-to-day running and management of the school. The Governors, Headteacher, staff and children work in partnership to promote the aims and values of the school.
The Governing Board of Reepham C.E. Primary School is the sole Board with no sub-committees, unless they required by exceptional circumstance.
