Awe & Wonder Committee

Our Awe and Wonder Committee comprises of representatives across a range of year groups. These children are responsible for reviewing and improving the quality and engagement of Collective Worship across the school.

The children meet regularly with the RE and Collective Worship Lead to discuss various topics, such as whole school worship, classroom worship, our church school distinctiveness, the school environment, inclusiveness and much more.

Our committee members help to ensure that Collective Worship is a powerful opportunity for our school community to come together to worship God in a meaningful and age-appropriate manner. We want everyone to feel that they are welcome, no matter what faith, and that every child belongs to our 'Reepham School Family'.

The children also have opportunities to meet with the school Reverend, and they serve as role models across the school whilst encouraging the participation of others in response to worship.

Main duties and responsibilities include:

  • To evaluate class and whole school worship;
  • To promote faith across our school;
  • To feedback ideas for additional worship, prayers and hymns;
  • To lead worship once a term.

The Awe and Wonder Committee has had a significant impact on Collective Worship within our school by giving children a sense of ownership over their own worship.

They are keen to find out what their friends feel about worship and what helps them to connect with God. This allows them to listen to other children’s views so they can shape our worship so that it makes everyone feel included in praise and reflection.

“This year we want to set up some prayer spaces around school, and we want to gather ideas to make sure our newly painted school hall is a welcoming place for worship.” (Quote)
